Contemporary ambient artist Ulla, leftfield house connoisseur rRoxymore, Rotterdam techno linchpin and Mord Records chief Bas Mooy, Oliver Ho in industrial techno guise as Broken English Club and contemporary master of hard, dark and driving techno VSK are some of the new names added to this year’s bill of international names and local talents at the vanguard of visual art and electronic music as it intersects with science and technology. In the exhibition we are welcoming robotics and machine building artists such as Louis-Philippe Demers and Jorrit Paaijmans well as Engtangled Others Studio who explore the rich substrate of the uncanny, eerie spaces between us and the non-human world.
The festival program has been divided into four strands: early evening performances happening across all four days and various unique spaces throughout Rotterdam, a double showcase of experimental clubs nights across two dancefloors happening at POING and WORM on Friday and Saturday, a one day conference exploring the festival theme in depth through presentations and artist talks, and two multidisciplinary exhibitions reflecting on our relationship with artificial systems and the (non)human experience of consciousness.
